Oakwood set up the Well-being In Retail Project in Spring 2022 with the aim of helping to shape the future of workplace well-being for the benefit of the sector and the people working within it.
The project is directed by an independent steering group consisting of 14 business leaders from top UK and International retail brands, who are also advocates of workplace wellbeing and keen to see the sector flourish.

Phase 1 of the project is now complete
Phase 1 of the project is now complete which included a research project aimed at understanding the current development of wellbeing programmes within the sector and to uncover valuable and actionable insights for both retail senior leaders and phase 2 of our project.
We were overwhelmed with the engagement levels, receiving responses from >575 retail managers; representing all management levels from the Shopfloor to the board room)
Our findings and recommendations have now been published in a Research report.

Jo Mackie
A.S.WATSON GROUP
Jo is the Group People Director for Europe at A.S Watson Group where she leads on wellbeing. A.S. Watson is the world’s largest international health and beauty retailer withover 16,200 stores in 29 markets.
Helen Cox
AMAZON
Helen is a Senior Global Community Program Manager leading on inclusion, Wellbeing and Engagement. She has worked at Amazon for the last 7 years and is currently creating an inclusive engagement strategy and roadmap for customer service retail teams.
Courtney Lagace
COLGATE-PALMOLIVE
Courtney leads on a Global level employee wellbeing at Colgate-Palmolive. She recently moved from New York City to London.
Terry Streather
OAKWOOD TRAINING
Terry is the founder of Oakwood Training. He's a Mental Health and Personal Safety expert, with extensive experience as both a frontline practitioner and trainer. He has worked extensively within the retail sector helping companies develop a culture with employee wellbeing at the heart.

Claire is the Health and Wellbeing Manager at Next. Over the last 5 years, Claire has been leading on Wellbeing at Next and developing a culture with employee wellbeing at the heart.
Robin Osterley
CHARITY RETAIL ASSOCIATION
Robin is the Chief Executive of the Charity Retail Association. They are the only membership association for charity shops in the UK. Their UK members run over 9,000 shops and have over 233,000 volunteers nationwide.
Iona Blake

Iona is a Security and Incident leader at Boots working within a retail and healthcare environment. She also sits on the National Retailers Against Crime Steering Group and supported in the development of the #ShopKind campaign.
Rachel Suff
CIPD
Rachel leads the CIPD’s public policy work for employment relations and health and wellbeing. Rachel has recently led a range of policy and research studies about health and wellbeing at work, including the CIPD’s annual Health and well-being at work survey report. She represents the CIPD on key Government and external advisory groups.
Guido Touber
LKQ EUROPE
Based in the Netherlands, Guido is the Learning and Development Manager for LKQ Europe. He is on the team leading Wellbeing for their 26,000 colleagues across 20 European countries.

Emma is the Engagement and Wellbeing Manager at Greene King where she has worked for 7 years. Greene King is the UK's largest pub retailer with over 2,900 pubs, restaurants and hotels.

Chey is the Head of People at Vet Partners. Chey was the former Head of People (Retail) at Halfords and has worked at a senior level within many retail settings.
