MENTAL HEALTH & WELLBEING AWARENESS FOR SENIOR LEADERS
Initiatives adopted at board-level – or better yet, driven by the board – have the most meaningful impact. And it’s no different with a commitment to employee wellbeing in the workplace.
By participating in this tailored training course, senior leaders will gain a deep understanding of the importance of creating a culture that supports mental health and wellbeing. They will be equipped with knowledge on how to recognise warning signs of poor mental health in employees and how to address them effectively. Additionally, they will learn strategies for promoting positive mental health practices within their team and wider organisation.
Flexible delivery and content
Our flexible Mental Health & Wellbeing Awareness for Senior Leaders training can be delivered as a one-off session or as part of a programme, where any aspect, including duration and content, can be tailored to suit your needs.
Programmes can include a blended learning approach live instructor-led workshops and additional online resources – whatever approach best suits your people.
With time being such a precious resource for senior leaders, shorter, more regular inputs allowing opportunities to reflect and dive deeper are, in our experience, far more effective than one-off, longer sessions. There is also clear evidence showing this approach is better for the learning process and is more likely to lead to meaningful change.

The training gave delegates the confidence to recognise some of the symptoms of mental health and a desire to do what we can to help people through periods of mental ill-health.
The training was engaging, accessible, informative, important and mind-broadening. We came away with a much clearer picture of how mental health issues affect people at work.

Since 2018 Terry and the team from Oakwood have worked with us as we’ve continued to invest and evolve our development programme. From large scale conferences to local sessions, Terry and team have delivered thought provoking and practical learning on all areas of Mental Health, that resonates within a retail world. They do this whilst ensuring a high level of care given the topic at hand and being responsive to the needs of the learners, even after the core training session has ended.
We’re looking forward to the next phase of our training that will help empower more people in our business whether that’s on an individual basis, to improve their own mental health, or in their capacity as team leaders, line managers and in leadership roles in creating the right environment for everyone to thrive.

Terry and his team at Oakwood took the time to understand who we are as a Company, before delivering a powerful and popular series of training days which spoke to the heart of our values; to care for people in a high-performance culture. Terry helped our people understand that, to stay champions in the race, we have to take our recovery and recuperation as seriously as we do the end performance.

Oakwood's approach is highly professional and bespoke. The training I attended with them, along with the top 25 senior leaders at Barnardo's was one of the most profound learning experiences I have had in a while. High quality, fast paced, deep, challenging, thought provoking and humorous. Brilliant!
Javed Khan
CEO, Barnados
The session was a great opportunity to reflect on how and why we should always talk about Mental Health, and how we can support one another.

I’ve worked with the Oakwood team on multiple projects. It’s a sad fact that violence and aggression is on the rise in the retail sector and AS Watson wanted to be proactive and give our colleagues the knowledge and tools to diffuse a potentially intense situation that could put our teams, colleagues, or visitors at risk.
Claire Reeves
People Development Content & Design Manager, Superdrug / AS Watson Group
Oakwood have completed many sessions for us since engaging with them in 2019. All course delegates praise the trainers for their professionalism, experience, and informative style; making the course easy to digest and changing their outlook on mental health. They have commenced some conflict management training, which we know will be delivered to the same standard.
Tommy Kelly
Group Health and Safety Manager, Matalan
The Oakwood team offer amazing support and guidance when needed. Oakwood were the expert friend that helped us springboard to where we are today, introducing wellbeing champions, Mental Health awareness modules, resilience content and listening groups. We have seen much stronger engagement in wellbeing content specifically and expect that to continue to grow.
Chris Britton
Head of Learning and Development, Carpetright
We were seeking a training partner with experience in delivering services to large complex retailers and one able to deliver the right level of impact across our workforce. We see great potential in using Oakwood’s services to enhance the wellbeing and care of our colleagues; making them feel more confident and able to raise issues they have in the workplace.
