Why a proactive approach to employee wellbeing is vital

Most organisations now provide wellbeing support, often through employee assistance programmes (EAPs) alongside other services.
EAPs play an important role in supporting employees through difficult moments but they are often accessed late, once issues have escalated, rather than as an early source of support.
The issue isn’t lack of intention or investment – as employee wellbeing is firmly on senior leaders’ agendas – but that access alone doesn’t guarantee people feel able to use it.
We work closely with organisations to shift mindset from reactive response to proactive prevention – building manager confidence to have early conversations and creating a culture where wellbeing support, such as vital EAPs, are not just available, but usable.

Foster a thriving workplace culture

Through initial workplace mental health and wellbeing training and ongoing support, we provide the tools and resources necessary to foster a positive and resilient work environment, and equip your team with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive.

Culture Change: Hands-on training that promotes a culture of wellbeing that challenges myths, stigma, and discrimination.

Mindset Matters: Understand how change and mindset affect wellbeing and performance, and learn how to build individual and team resilience.

Early Intervention: Recognise early signs of stress, burnout, anxiety, depression and poor mental health in yourself and others, and understand what action you can take.

Supportive Conversations: Learn how to discuss mental health and provide initial support, make reasonable adjustments, and manage performance.

Manager Empowerment: Address common concerns and adopt a supportive management ethos.

Ongoing Support: Benefit from post-training 'Upskill' sessions, virtual 'Get Togethers' and more.

Most organisations now provide wellbeing support, often through employee assistance programmes (EAPs), however research shows that less than 30% of EAP calls are from men.
Oakwood has extensive experience delivering to male delegates, having worked with predominantly male audiences in factories, distribution centres, frontline maintenance/facilities teams, the mining industry and in the manufacturing/logistics and shipping sectors.
We understand that having the right messengers is just as important as the messages that are being delivered, so carefully match our trainers to the audience to encourage men to prioritise their mental health.

Post-Training Support

Meaningful change doesn’t happen as a result of one session. On completion of the live training, your people will receive free additional practical resources to enhance their learning and share with their teams.

We also offer a range of additional and customisable options that can be blended into an optional package of post-training support.

Practical Resources We will share free bite sized videos, ‘activations’, downloads and more.

'Upskill' Sessions: A chance for individuals and teams to join our interactive live sessions and webinars to enhance their skill set and deepen their understanding of vital topics.

Get Togethers: Connect, share strategies, and review progress in an informal virtual setting. Led by a member of the Oakwood team, this is a chance learn from one another, boost motivation and encourage proactive steps.

Reflective Practice: A chance for individuals and teams to connect with an Oakwood trainer after a period of implementing their learning to reflect on their experience.

Wellbeing Support Calls: Access confidential, non-judgmental support for self-care and resilience from one of our experienced team members.

Ongoing Support: Create a tailored post-training programme, including 'Upskill' sessions and virtual 'Get Togethers', to support your newly trained mental health first aiders, allies, champions and ambassadors.
