What we did...
Mental Health First Aid
We trained Mental Health First Aiders from various departments to provide initial support to those who need it.
Bespoke Courses
We developed and delivered live trainer led virtual sessions around safe suicide conversations and self care.
group reflective practice
We delivered live trainer led reflective practice sessions to reflect on and learn from their own real world experiences.
one to one support
We provided one to one support calls, giving people safe space to talk and help develop resilience during difficult times.
We are supporting Royal Voluntary Service with training and providing group and individual reflective practice sessions. Royal Voluntary Service is delivering the NHS Volunteer Responders Programme on behalf of NHS England.

People Programme Manager, Royal Voluntary Service
We have been working with Oakwood since 2019 when they trained our Mental Health First Aiders. Royal Voluntary Service is delivering the NHS Volunteer Responders Programme in relation to COVID-19 and Oakwood have developed bespoke courses for us that have been delivered through live trainer-led virtual sessions.
These have included awareness programs on safe suicide conversations, self-care and group reflective practice. They have also provided one to one wellbeing support calls for members of our team. The virtual courses and support calls have been tailored to meet our specific needs and have been extremely well received by our team.
It's made a real difference in bringing groups together to talk about real-world examples so they can reflect on what they did and improve learning. It's also really helped build people's personal resilience during these difficult and challenging times. Oakwood have been very helpful and supportive and it's been a pleasure working with Gemma, Terry and the rest of the team.

CEO, Next
Terry was an excellent trainer and we came away with a much clearer picture of how mental health issues affect people at work. The training was engaging, accessible, informative, important and mind-broadening. Most of all, the training helped to dispel the stigma and fear of mental health - giving delegates the confidence to recognise some of the symptoms and a desire to do what we can to help people through periods of mental ill-health.

Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Next
Oakwood have helped Next to embark upon their journey to improve the way those who experience mental ill-health are recognised, heard and helped. From the development of corporate objectives and a Mental Wellbeing Charter to the creation and delivery of a comprehensive training programme and procedures, Oakwood have been incredibly supportive at every stage.

Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor, Next
Terry and Oakwood have been working closely with us at Next over the last year to assist in the development of our Mental Health programme. They have delivered senior management Mental Health awareness training and have also worked with some key personnel within Next to develop their knowledge, confidence and delivery in the subject of Mental Health creating our own in house training resource.
Terry is so approachable and personable. He has been incredibly supportive to our team and has help us to set up a great platform on which to build.
