CEO, Halfords

Halfords is a large diverse organisation with multiple locations so when looking for a training partner, we needed an organisation that has experience in delivering services to large complex retailers. We needed to be confident that the services would deliver the right level of impact across our workforce. Halfords prides itself in prioritising colleague care and given the challenges of the past 15 months, we are stepping up activity to fine-tune our Mental Health strategy. We look forward to working in partnership with Terry and the team at Oakwood Training going forward. Further to Terry's thought-provoking and informative executive session, we are more conscious of the work we need to do to better support our teams and elevate our mental health commitments in the coming months. This includes coaching for our senior leaders, refreshing training for our current cohort of Mental Health First Aiders and expanding the programme across the Group. We are looking forward to embedding more positive change and see great potential in using Terry's services to enhance the wellbeing and care of colleagues making them feel more confident and able to raise issues they have in the workplace further supporting our One Halfords Family value.

People and Culture Director, Greene King

The best thing about working with Oakwood was their collaborative approach. They understood our needs from MHFA training through to Leading & Managing Wellbeing, as well as short immersive webinar sessions on looking after ourselves in Lockdown and bouncing back to reopening.

Our work with Oakwood gave us permission to discuss mental health at the leadership level and has changed the way our managers think about their team's wellbeing.

We've been able to measure the impact of these changes through our Lockdown 3.0 Engagement Survey and our annual survey.

Talent Acquisition & Learning Manager - Northern Europe, Colgate-Palmolive Company

"We were looking for a partner, who had a positive approach to Mental Health & Wellbeing. Someone who could convey the message in an engaging way while still being laser sharp about the seriousness of taking care of your own wellbeing. It was important to select a program, which could embrace our Colgate Culture and at the same time tap straight into various local cultures and allow each individual to feel invited and listen to.

The program has been a great success with incredible high participation on both the virtual instructor-led sessions and the eLearning modules. What we particularly love is the bite-sized, fun and interactive way the eLearning is constructed with a great variety to keep the learner hooked.

The equal and unpretentious dialogue Oakwood masters creates psychological safety and opens up for dialogue, vulnerability - and the opportunity to proactively take responsibility"

Chairman and CEO, Unipart Group

As a company, Unipart has long been committed to the well-being of all our colleagues and has put in place many programmes and facilities to benefit both their physical and mental wellness.

Facing the dual challenges of an ever-increasing pace of change and the impact of the pandemic, we have particularly engaged our leadership in understanding their role in meeting these 21st-century challenges.

That's why it was so important for us to have an acknowledged expert like Terry Streather work with both with small groups and to address our entire leadership team in an online presentation that was highly informative and engaging and has gained many plaudits from those who attended.

People Programme Manager, Royal Voluntary Service

We have been working with Oakwood since 2019 when they trained our Mental Health First Aiders. Royal Voluntary Service is delivering the NHS Volunteer Responders Programme in relation to COVID-19 and Oakwood have developed bespoke courses for us that have been delivered through live trainer-led virtual sessions.

These have included awareness programs on safe suicide conversations, self-care and group reflective practice. They have also provided one to one wellbeing support calls for members of our team. The virtual courses and support calls have been tailored to meet our specific needs and have been extremely well received by our team.

It's made a real difference in bringing groups together to talk about real-world examples so they can reflect on what they did and improve learning. It's also really helped build people's personal resilience during these difficult and challenging times. Oakwood have been very helpful and supportive and it's been a pleasure working with Gemma, Terry and the rest of the team.

Head of HR Operations & Support, Buzz Bingo

Terry and the team at Oakwood have been great to work with. Not only did they take time to understand who we are and our needs as a business, they have helped us work around the challenges we faced to help us bring our health and wellbeing strategy to life and implement Mental Health Awareness as efficiently as possible.

We know that Colleagues are talking more about mental health, which helps to break down barriers and the stigma around the subject. We can see the positive impact the increased support is having. This is just the start, and we’re looking forward to working more with Oakwood in the future.
